Warden now has the keys – Okanagan Correctional Centre officially opens its doors

The Honourable Mike Morris, Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General, hands the keys over to Steve DiCastri, the Warden at the new Okanagan Correctional Centre.

 

The new Okanagan Correctional Centre is officially open.

A simple handing-over-of-the-keys-to-the-front-door signalled the official beginning of the correctional facility, which will begin receiving inmates in the new year.

A colourful and speech-filled opening ceremony took place this morning at the new prison, located just north of Oliver on Osoyoos Indian Band lands.

We will provide you with all the details and comments from the main participants later today.
