On October 11th, 2016 a resident on Miller Rd reported that a hunter dressed in camouflage with a high visibility vest was observed near his residence. The hunter was walking with his dog when he or she fired a shot from a shotgun likely at the numerous quail in the area. Several pellets from the discharged firearm struck the complainants residence including an entrance door. Oliver RCMP are looking to identify the person responsible.
A query with Penticton Conservation revealed it is lawful to hunt in this area but it is not lawful to be within 100 meters of a residence and discharge a firearm as well as several other Firearm offences including discharge a firearm in an unsafe manner or direction and under the Criminal Code of Canada reckless discharge of a firearm. If anyone has information as to the identity of this hunter please contact your local RCMP Detachment.
