Background
38 year old single father of 2 teenage boys, one attends OSS and the other goes to SOSS.
ENJOY being a part of the Osoyoos community and have lived here for the past 12 years. Currently work for the Town of Osoyoos and have done so for the past 10 years. Began my career at the Sonora Community Centre (Community Services) for 8 years and the past 2 years with Operational Services (Public Works).
Launched the TGIF youth drop in night which was successful for 5 years, seeing an average of 70 youth each Friday night.
Volunteer Experience
Volunteered with the Osoyoos Coyotes as security and as the team Chaplain for the past 3 seasons. I recently resigned to commit and pursue the Trustee position. Proud to be a Volunteer Fire Fighter for the Town of Osoyoos. Fire Fighting is something that I have done for over 20 years which 6 of those years have been with Osoyoos. Head Coach for the Sr. Boys Basketball team at OSS. This is something that I am very passionate about. Over the past 4 seasons we have developed a solid program at OSS and have seen our team head to Provincials the past 2 seasons. Our season begins shortly – we are very excited about the way our team is coming together.
Why run for School Trustee?
As a parent and as a volunteer in the School District I have seen firsthand some of the struggles our students face. Some might say the glass is half empty, others may say the glass is half full, I say “I am happy just to have a glass”. Meaning we have something and let’s work together at making it the best we can. Issues like district governance, financing and the rising/falling enrollment will always be present. We need to work together to develop positive solutions that will sustain our schools future and proper education for our children. I want to hear from the students and parents and listen to your concerns. What you feel the School District is doing right and what needs improvement.
I am very thankful for this opportunity to represent the community of Osoyoos and the School District.
I look forward to the challenges and will work hard in this role.
Please come out and vote!
Let’s work together at finding responsible solutions to our local education challenges.
