Star Power – picture and story from Dave Whalley
Sunrise from Mt Kobau during the recent Mount Kobau Star Party. We had 7 clear nights for observing the wonders of the universeĀ out of 8 nights on the mountain with 106 astronomers in attendance. At 6000ft, the atmosphere is much clearer than at the valley floor, also light pollution is not as much of a problem.
The MKSP astronomy groupĀ are the only ones with the privilege of camping on the mountain with a 30 year record of care for the environment. we have a no fire policy, portapotties are at the site for our use and all garbage is packed out with not a candy wrapper left behind
