Meeting One – Special Open
Zoning Amendment Bylaw 1085.99
Marijuana Operations
A bylaw to forbid any production or sales of marijuana in the Town limits.
Given third and final reading. Exception made with no delay as it was a zoning matter. Normally a one day delay is given between third and final readings to bylaws.
Vote count – 3 in favour with two opposed Councillor Campol and Councillor Rhodes.
Councillor Campol stated he was opposed but wanted everyone to know it was an extremely fair process.
Campol stated his opposition on the basis that the bylaw was not necessary.
Council anticipates some new federal regulations on medical/recreation use of marijuana in Canada to be announced shortly.
The “short-term interim zoning bylaw amendment is intended to hold the line until Council can work with staff and the public to develop a ‘made in Osoyoos solution,’ ” a report delivered to Council suggests.
