TELUS has completed construction of the replacement wireless site following an unprecedented act of vandalism that destroyed TELUS’ previous tower serving the town. The new permanent replacement site is now live, fully restoring wireless coverage to Oliver and the surrounding area.
In March, one or more individuals used tools to deliberately cut multiple guy wires that stabilized TELUS’ wireless site on Oliver Mountain, causing the tower to collapse and disrupting wireless service. No one was injured.
Immediately following the vandalism, TELUS technicians worked around the clock to rapidly restore wireless coverage to the majority of Oliver residents by installing temporary wireless antennas on the mountain. TELUS’ engineering team expedited construction of the new permanent replacement tower.
TELUS sincerely thanks its customers for their patience and understanding during this time.
