Glenn Mandziuk is the CEO of TOTA – Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association.
He pitched his rail trail strategy and got a quick and favourable response.
What is the strategy – develop high class trails from Castlegar in the Kootenays to Hope in the Fraser Valley but don’t forget the TO (Thompson Okanagan)
Mandziuk says research shows that the $$$ come from world travelers looking for a “world class” destination. That means at least 150 Km of high level cycling on a path away from traffic but close to amenities.
Myra Canyon north of Naramata to Osoyoos was mentioned as one of those corridors.
After the short presentation – All RDOS directors were enthusiastic with giving moral support to the idea. No cash was asked for…….at this time.
