Those interested in an All-female Shooting Stars hockey team had a chance Thursday to check out the interest with a free “Try Girls Hockey” ice session at the Sun Bowl.
Girls between five and 13 were invited.
The event was promoted as a “no-pressure, all fun” opportunity to try ice hockey for free. Interested players can meet some of the Shooting Stars players and coaches.
“We had just over 30 girls on the ice – so a great turnout! About half were new and half already play hockey.
The response I’ve heard so far from the new girls is quite positive – with at least a few girls now already decided to register for hockey this season!
And several more I still need to touch base with to find out where they’re at – but sounds like they had fun.” Charmaine Casorso
