DEVELOPMENT BEGINS
The PIB announces the bridge at Green Ave and the Channel Parkway is no longer a bridge to nowhere with the first tenant signing a deal today.
Nissan Penticton will be the first tenant in the development, according to a media release from the band.
The building to be constructed is 16,000 square foot on the locatee lands across the Okanaga River channel. The construction is expected to start within the next 60 days, PIB Chief Jonathan Kruger says in the release.
This announcement is a major step forward in development of the channel lands following the construction of the bridge last year.
“Signing our first commercial tenant at the Satikw Crossing proves when you build it, they will come,” Kruger says in the release. “This is the culmination of a 22-year journey to resolve legal, environmental and financial hurdles to build an $8 million bridge to the future that links our economies with the broader region.”
The Nissan Penticton dealership is expected to create 30 full time jobs when it opens in mid-2017.
