STOLEN TRUCK CRASHES INTO VINEYARD
At 09:07 am on 2016-JUL-15, Oliver RCMP responded to a Motor Vehicle Collision on Hwy 97 near Road 11 in Oliver.
A black Ford F350 failed to negotiate a curve in the road and went off road into a vineyard/orchard. The truck plowed through the vineyard posts and wiring causing extensive damage to a significant section of vines. There were several migrant farm workers actively pruning the vines and one was struck by the truck. The worker was transported to SOGH where it was determined that he suffered a broken arm.
Officers said the truck had been stolen in OK Falls on the 10th of July.
The driver of the truck fled the scene prior to police arriving. The quick thinking vineyard owner took a photograph of the driver. As a result of his action, police determined the identity of the male, who is known to police and a resident of Oliver. Police are actively looking for the male and will be recommending a number of charges to Crown Counsel.
