It is easy to post negative things that staff may disagree with or opinions from professionals that may also disagree with Council.
I saw 5 projects listed with one that shouldn’t even be on the list, #4. Not a bad number and I don’t see why the fuss? There are always some hiccups along the way.
How about all the things Town of Oliver employees do agree to do on a daily and yearly basis? It would be a lot longer letter to write listing several dozens of tasks and projects already budgeted for.
Council directed staff to follow a recently adopted “Strategic Plan” derived from a combination of Council/Staff that lists 62 projects to be completed or started between 2016 to 2018. That’s not including daily tasks/jobs we do just to keep services running effectively which I think our staff do a great job on.
Staff are just doing their job by giving their professional opinion or seeking opinions from other professionals and present all options in their reports, including Councils. Council chooses from the list and staff move on and do what they are told to do in the end.
Not sure what Mr. Mattes sees wrong with that? Some constructive debating is not a bad thing. It lets the other person get a different perspective or maybe it may not ….but at least it was presented.
Also, a Town isn’t run like the private sector with the Town’s mandated legislative duties required but there are similarities with each side for sure
I have worked on both sides. Let’s move on. We have constructive work to do!
