It sure seems that staff often works hard to show why council direction can’t be accomplished. I guess that is how the public sector works. In the private sector, if a board or senior management is faced with being continually told things can’t be done, the negative personnel are usually replaced with “can do” people or managers. Our Town staff are the professionals hired to overcome obstacles to council requests. It is not councils job to provide the solutions, or argue with staff about the rightness of direction.

It is council’s job to set direction and policy, staffs job to make it happen.
