Town sells Hemlock Street land
The town has apparently been successful in selling a piece of unused industrial land to an undisclosed buyer.
The parcel at 5895 Hemlock was offered for sale following the May 9 council meeting after council decided it has no current or foreseeable use for the property.
The property sold excludes the riparian area associated with the drainage channel.
It was assessed at $290,000 and, according to corporate officer Diane Vaykovich that is the amount of offer the town received.
She said all subjects have been removed and the deal should complete shortly.
The proceeds will go into the town’s land sale reserve fund.
Disability Alliance to review emergency plans
Council agreed Monday to engage the Disability Alliance of BC to review the town’s Emergency Response and Recovery plan and how it meets the needs of people with disabilities.
The alliance informed the town by letter that it is funding through Emergency Management BC and that there will be no cost to the town for the review.
According to a report to council from corporate officer Diane Vaykovich, the process includes reviewing local emergency plans and providing recommendations on how to integrate the needs of people with disabilities.
Councillor Mo Doerr will take an Emergency Social Services training course this fall since the town has no formal ESS coordinator.
