Penticton’s former fire chief, Wayne Williams, is taking the City to court for wrongful dismissal.
Why?
Williams says, between March and August 2015 he made public his plans to retire but did not set a firm retirement date.
He went on sick leave after a traumatic incident and then claimed the City tried to communicate with him despite advice from a doctor.
He was terminated even though a retirement date had not been set.
Williams states in his notice of claim that the defendant (The City) even asked him to return his Chief’s uniform.
