Street vendors approved; sites to be determined

Two summertime street vendors – one “Asian fusion” and one ice cream — will appear in Osoyoos soon.

Exact locations aren’t known, but the three possible sites are Goodman Park, the Pioneer Walkway parking lot and Lions Park.

Osoyoos Delight Asian Fusion Snacks and Brennanigan’s Valley Ice Cream both replied last month to the town’s Expression of Interest (EOI) invitation.

Senior planner Dilys Huang sought approval from council on Monday for the Asian fusion vending cart to be located at Goodman Park and for the ice cream trailer to be sited at Pioneer Parkway.

Huang’s report said Brennanigan’s originally requested a location at Lions Park but were convinced to accept the Pioneer Parkway location because of parking and other issues at Lions Park.

Some members of council objected to Lions Park being rejected as a potential site.

In the end, council voted to put Lions Park back on the table and have the administration work with the two vendors to decide which two sites they will occupy.
