Miracle
A miracle is an event that was considered impossible. Elizabeth David says, “every day holds the possibility of a miracle”. So we have the possibility of the impossible. Neat. Some say that miracles are simply real events misinterpreted. In 1925 it would be a miracle to build an entire car in 15 minutes. Nowadays, some assembly lines do it routinely. So what would have then been considered a miracle, isn’t today
The book entitled A Course In Miracles defines a miracle as turning fear into love. Fear is a source of actions such as bullying and cowardice to name but a few. Love is a source of Acceptance, integrity and generosity. That book also tells us that there is no order of difficulty in making miracles. Well, if we use the definition stated, I suppose that is true. What do you think?
To notice something that strikes me as miraculous is not quite the same as experiencing a full on miracle. Is it? When we acknowledge the miracle that is nature and what little we know about the Universe and the body, how leaves convert sunlight into energy to grow a plant, a long list could be here, these are miraculous. But we don’t say, wow, look at the miracle here and there and everywhere. Wonder why?
It was once believed that a man was not capable of running a mile in under four minutes. Yet, after Bannister, within weeks, others around the world also did it. It is like a miracle is only the first time. The rest are passe’. The first, so called, miracle seems to be the only miracle. What changes? As with the idea of building a car in 15 minutes, after the first one, we become unable to recognize a miracle after the first one
The story of Nelson Mandela demonstrates the principles of a miracle. Fear was turned to love and the impossibility of a black prisoner becoming President of the country miraculously happened. Ghandi, without a single conventional weapon, offered passive love in the face of the fearful population and the army of Great Britain, from which India was freed to independence. One person, fear to love, big miracles
