On May 31, 2016, North Okanagan RCMP received information regarding a large blue plastic industrial barrel on a forest service road in the area of the Kingfisher Forest Service Road.

Officers attended the area and were able to locate the barrel in question.  When opened, officers discovered it was full of packaged marijuana. The contents consisted of 24 packages of vacuum sealed/packed marijuana with a total weight of approximately 11.5 Kgs.

To date, police have not been able to identify any possible suspects and cannot determine how long it had been left in the forest.

It is unknown why, but two forestry consultant companies based in Salmon Arm have received anonymous phone calls demanding the return of the barrel and its contents.
