The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen is requesting submission of Proposals from qualified construction professionals to cost and complete up to 4.2 km trail surfacing project and associated works between Kaleden and Penticton. The project has been divided in to five sections that are unique in scope with the priority to complete sections two, three and four and then one and five as budget permits.
Completion of the KVR walking/cycling corridor through Kaleden, discussions and negotiations are underway with the owners of the Banbury Campground Resort at the north end of Kaleden (Douglas Dewar and his family) and with the Strata owners of the Ponderosa Point development at the south end of town.
These discussions, which include Provincial agencies, will lead to the removal of several bottlenecks to public use while respecting the privacy rights of these two developments; and to ensure that proper signage is incorporated in the upgraded KVR corridor to eliminate ambiguity and uncertainty for trail users. At the same time, progress is also being made in reaching a final resolution of the trail route behind the old Kaleden Hotel and through the McGinn properties along Alder Avenue, and onward North to Sickle Point.
