Joint Meeting of the Councils of Oliver and Osoyoos
On June 10th councils of both Oliver and Osoyoos met in a spirit of collaboration to discuss a number of issues. Topics included:
· Highway signage and related concerns over the last several years.
· Emergency Room coverage and how councils could assist.
· Current bylaw enforcement practices and shared local concerns.
· Discussed opportunities where both communities could lobby the Provincial government together.
· Discussion on how both communities, both rural areas and the Osoyoos Indian Band could work together.
The two hour meeting was followed by a social lunch. Oliver was the host of this second joint meeting of the current councils., the first having been hosted by Osoyoos. It is always beneficial to share practices, experiences and to seek opportunities where we could possibly work together. Both councils together with their staff will continue to investigate what opportunities can be pursued. It was a good meeting for all involved .
