An Okanagan man accused of stabbing another man in the Oliver area was released on bail Wednesday afternoon.
Abraham Charleyboy has been charged with aggravated assault and possessing a weapon for dangerous purposes, stemming from the incident on June 3. He was released on $500 bail with no surety.
His conditions include living with his aunt in Kelowna, being in the residence from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. each evening, having no contact with the victim, not going to Oliver and not being in possession of any weapons.
The next appearance date for election is June 22.
Oliver RCMP responded to a reported stabbing on Highway 97 south of Oliver on June 3 at 1 a.m.
“A local female stated that she was driving a friend to the hospital as he had been stabbed repeatedly,” said Sgt. Blaine Gervais. “The victim was at the female’s residence with another male and they got into an argument, resulting in a fight between the two. During the fight, the victim was stabbed and slashed. The resulting injuries were serious, possibly life threatening.”
Abraham Raymond Charleyboy, born in 1983, was arrested by the police.
Later that morning, a search warrant was executed at the suspect’s residence and a weapon was recovered.
As a result of the investigation, Charleyboy has been charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes under the Criminal Code of Canada.
Charleyboy remains in custody in Penticton and will appear in court today.
