A Rose
Amanda McBroom, the writer of the song “The Rose”, must have experienced great discouragement and despair in her life, or else observed it in someone dear to her. The third verse of the song expresses it this way.
When the night has been so lonely and the road has been too long,
And you think that love is only for the lucky and the strong,
Just remember in the winter far beneath the bitter snows
Lies the seed that, with the sun’s love, in the spring becomes the rose.
Some of us may be identifying with the dark and lonely night right now. Currently, life’s journey is a tough one for some of you. It may be that you are haunted by things done wrong or circumstances gone wrong. There seems to be no way out. But there is hope. There are people who care about you and God cares about you too. He is able to see you through.
There’s hope on the sunny side,
