National Park issue – Ministry of Environment expects to release a statement within 2-3 weeks on the community review and feedback of 3 park areas – #1 in Osoyoos/Kipoola, #2 Oliver Mtn. and #3 Vaseux Lake.
Larson says the ministry is almost finished the review and with staff having talked to Ottawa. She says the Government of BC is firm that Parcel #2 Oliver will not be included in any suggestion for a park reserve.
Larson states the BC government is committed to doing what it is mandated to do in land and nature protection. It will work closely with Native Nations in co-management of sensitive areas.
She also states she is working with the RDOS and the local MP in opening up the pathway on the west side of Vaseux Lake (controlled by Canadian Wildlife Service) for public hike and bike use.
The election in BC is next spring. Larson says she is firm in her determination to represent the people.
No one else has been nominated in the region that now takes-in Princeton one of 18 communities involved.
