Metcalfe (nee Hunter)
January 1947 – April 2016
It is with great sadness that the family of Carol Metcalfe announce that she passed away peacefully April 4, 2016 in Edmonton, with her family by her side, after a brief but valiant battle with cancer.
She will be lovingly remembered by her mother (Corinne Hunter), her daughters Brenda (Jim) and Keri, granddaughter Leanne, extended family and friends, and her beloved canine companion Harley. Carol was predeceased by her father in 2006.
Carol had a zest for life that was contagious. She loved her job and helping people and was a successful physiotherapist for over 43 years. She was passionate and enthusiastic, especially in her retirement where she spent her time curling, doing Sudoku or at her true passion, playing pickleball. She loved music, laughter, a kind gesture and shoes and purses.
When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me,
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room
And the sun has set for me,
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room
Why cry for a soul set free!
Miss me a littleBut not too long,
And not with your head bowed low,
Remember the love we once shared
Miss me a littleBut not too long,
And not with your head bowed low,
Remember the love we once shared
Miss me – but let me go.
For this is a journey we all must take
For this is a journey we all must take
And each must go alone,
It is all a part of the Master’s plan
A stop on the road to home,
hen you are lonely and sick of heart
Go to the friends we know,
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds,
Miss me – but let me go.
It is all a part of the Master’s plan
A stop on the road to home,
hen you are lonely and sick of heart
Go to the friends we know,
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds,
Miss me – but let me go.
Respecting Carol’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family gathering will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
A special thank you to the palliative home care staff and Unit 43 at the Grey Nuns Hospital.
