Update
This is a special meeting of the Board of Education to discuss the two school closure recommendations. This is a business meeting and the Board’s charter and bylaws will apply. There is an opportunity for the public to speak to an item on the board agenda during “Public Forum”. The public forum is limited to thirty (30) minutes as per Bylaw No. 26, “Public Participation at Board Meetings.” Individuals wishing to speak during public forum are required to complete a form prior to the start of the meeting and submit it to Lynda Minnabarriet, Secretary-Treasurer – these forms will be available at the meeting. The Board will then discuss the recommendations. There is a further opportunity for the public to address the board at the end of the meeting during “Question Period.” This will be moderated by the Board Chair.
The meeting will start at 7:00 pm at the Osoyoos Secondary School Theatre. Doors will open at 6:15 pm.
In response to feedback and questions about the venue, Board Chair, Marieze Tarr, issued the following statement:
The April 6 Board meeting is a formal business meeting of the Board of Education and needs to be conducted as such. All Board meetings occur in the school board office; however, the Board has made the decision to relocate this business meeting to an Osoyoos venue that respects parent and community interest as well as supports the business that needs to take place regarding this very important decision. We kindly ask for your cooperation.
