$20,000 + $31 thousand= $51,000
Oliver Kiwanis recently gave to the hospital equipment fund for the Penticton Regional Hospital tower noted in this story from February 9th.
The group looked at their bank account and added more cash.
First it was a small cheque for $1000 that arrived in the mail last week. Janice Perrino then invited to speak at a Kiwanis meeting where she got a surprise – a much larger cheque for $30 thousand.
The South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation now at the half way mark of cash and pledges in a drive to find $20 million for new equipment.
Perrino told Kiwanis members that the project could start as early as April – total cost $325 million for a building structure that is 3 times the size of the SO Events Centre.
First phase the patient tower to be finished late 2019 and the 2nd phase the Emergency Department to be finished late 2020.
The project mainly funded by the BC Government and the Regional Hospital District. 190 doctors and 80 specialists operate in the region serviced by Penticton Regional Hospital. A catchment population of 91 thousand people.
