Private schools remain top of the class according to the Fraser Institute’s latest yearly report card ranking B.C. elementary schools.
The rankings compared 944 schools over the past five years using B.C.’s Foundation Skills Assessment, an annual province-wide gauge of students’ academic skills from the B.C. Ministry of Education.
The report assigns schools a number grade out of 10. 757 schools surveyed.
“Our report card is the only objective, reliable tool that parents have to compare the academic performance of their child’s school over time and to that of other schools in their community,” said report co-author Peter Cowley.
Cowley says the average score across the province was six out of 10.
