This was the residence of the late Billy Kruger of Penticton Indian Reserve. Billy was the son of the late Theodore Kruger, first HBC Manager at the Port of Osoyoos.
Theodore was my Grandmother’s Father. Like the Haynes the Kruger men had Native Women prior to the White Women. I recall this always being referred to as Kruger Hill coming out of Penticton. The Highway has now been changed to make it a more Gradual Incline, and not the steep hill it used to be. Billy took the Native Way of Life from his Mother and followed it. I recall my mother always referring to this as Kruger Hill and pointing out the Residence and referring it as Billy’s House when coming home from Penticton. I cannot put a date on this without checking Geneology Records. Hope this helps clear the cobwebs. I keep telling people that I have deep roots in this area.
