More than 500 people from the community bolstered by secondary school students, many cement trucks, orchard sprayers, flat bed trucks, and a honking fire truck assembled before noon to show that Osoyoos does not want any of their schools closed. The element of commercial support enormous led by organizer Brenda Dorosz.
One elderly lady cornered me and said:
” Brenda is an angel and has the gratitude of the community. ”
No sign of anyone from the School District. A peaceful demonstration at the Osoyoos Secondary School.
Simple as that. School proceeded normally but outside the marchers, the sign wavers and those making speeches and talking to the media – all unified.
Save our Schools. Don’t touch them. Fix them. Find a way to populate them. Find the money district wide.
More pictures to come.
