The Osoyoos Indian Band announced Thursday it helped broker the peace deal between the Spirit Ridge Owners Association and Bellstar Hotels and Resorts.
Under the agreement, the resort’s conference centre, restaurant and check-in centre will become property of the owners, thereby ensuring weddings and other events booked there this summer will go ahead as planned.
“We have been working very hard over the past months to resolve this and I’m happy to say that this agreement keeps Spirit Ridge at NK’MIP Resort on a strong footing moving forward,” OIB Chief Clarence Louie said in a press release.
“Determined behind-the-scenes efforts by the OIB negotiating representatives has led to a conditional deal that sees the reopening of the conference center and restaurant operations at Spirit Ridge/ Nk’Mip Resort,” said Louie .
“The OIB helped facilitate an agreement that will see the ownership of the conference centre, restaurant and check-in hall transfer to the SROA. The agreement means all major events and weddings planned at Spirit Ridge … can continue as planned.
“This is a great deal for everyone involved, especially for all the people who visit or want a wedding or conference here. Spirit Ridge is a major part of our Nk’Mip Resort. “
