Sunday, just before midnight, Khedejeh (Mom)and Ahmad (brother) , stepped off the plane in Penticton to the welcoming embraces of Mohammad, Nesreen, Yazan, Ghazal and Manessa Al Lwisi, and to the cheers and applause of a large welcoming committee from Oliver, Osoyoos, & Summerland.
In Mohammad’s words, “this is like a dream come true”.
The family had expected to immigrate all together, but back in December, when the call came from Citizenship and Immigration Canada, it was only for Mohammad and his immediate family. It was unknown at that time, whether the rest of the family would ever be following. It was with a heavy heart that Mohammad and Nesreen left the family behind in Lebanon to come begin their Canadian life.
Just a couple of weeks ago, we received word that Mohammad’s mother and brother would be joining them in Canada. His sister, for some reason, was not included at this time. While Mohammad is overjoyed to be reunited with his mother and brother, he is still very concerned for his sister, Maria, who remains in Lebanon. Hopefully, we will have notice of her arrival very soon.
