Brenda Dorosz and her family had just sat down to dinner last Wednesday when the phone began to ring.

Brenda said the call display said Victoria.

To her surprise the call was from the Minister of Education Mike Bernier. The minister had been asked to phone Mr. Dorosz as she was the chief organizer for the “Save our Osoyoos Schools” movement.

Dorosz said the call was friendly and short. The minister sounded empathetic and made several suggestions:

1. Ask for a delay in any decision by the school board on a closure
2. Bring as many parties to the table as possible to win the day

Dorosz had earlier called on NDP Education critic Rob Fleming to take up the case of schools closing in Osoyoos. Fleming spoke in the house last week. Dorosz says that MLA will come to Osoyoos March 8th when the next consultative meeting is scheduled for the gym at the Osoyoos Elementary.
