Celebration of Caring hands raises a record breaking $19000!
Every year, we think we can’t have more fun or raise more money than the previous year’s Celebration of Caring Hands, which is why we were absolutely ecstatic to beat our 2014 fundraising amount by almost 50%!
Thank you to all of the people who helped make the 2015 event such a terrific success: our phenomenal event team who worked long hours to pull all the details together, Maverick Estate Winery for hosting our wine bar, and all of the event attendees who so generously committed their time and dollars. Every penny earned will go towards helping support palliative end-of-life care, services and education in Oliver and Osoyoos. If you didn’t attend this year, make sure to mark your calendar for next year! Between the rousing silent and live auctions, bake sale, live music, and excellent food and drink.
Are you a future volunteer?
DVHS will be running a Hospice Volunteer training course this spring. The training provides future volunteers with a solid base in how to support clients facing end of life and their loved ones. Anyone interested in volunteering through DVHS to provide one-on-one support directly to people nearing end-of-life must complete this 36 hour course. We hope you’ll consider signing up for the course! A caring, educated volunteer can make an enormous difference to the comfort and peace of mind of someone nearing death. For more information, please contact Julie Koenig at 250 495 5026, or call DVHS’ Supportive Care Centre at 250 495 1590.
