I have 5 years experience as a recreation facility operator (arenas, aquatic centres and parks) mostly with the City of Toronto.I got my start in supervision in Sioux Lookout (northwestern Ontario) as their Programming, Facilities and Operations Supervisor and was promoted to be the Community Services Manager within 3 years. In the 2 years as Manager I was able to reduce operating costs, increase revenues, memberships and facility utilizations.
From there I spent the next few years moving westward as Manager of Recreation for the County of Grande Prairie (AB), Manager of Leisure Services in Estevan (SK), Supervisor Major Leisure Facilities for Regina. I am leaving Athabasca (AB) where I served as the General Manager of the Athabasca Regional Multiplex Society and was able to reduce the net operating lose by $120,000 in one year and increase memberships.
This new position provides me the opportunity to fulfill a lifelong goal of living in mountains where I can enjoy mountain biking, climbing and scrambles, canoeing and kayaking and other outdoor pursuits, and I look forward to helping the community with its fitness expansion plans.
