ODN asked Town of Oliver PW Manager, Shawn Goodsell for an update on the Gallagher Lake rock slide
- Here is a quick update on the siphon damage project
- The 78” concrete pipe has just been ordered and with delivery it is in the $57k range. The pipe will be here in three weeks.
- We recently received a “Technical Memorandum” from Golder & Associates for the geotechnical information required, site visit. The will beback on site during construction. The Town will be charged around $2k plus more when we need them on-site during construction.
- Staff confirmed the damaged pipe area is 20m in length area.
- Staff met with one Rock Scaling company on site and another one later this week. We don’t know all the costs associated with that yet.
- Our Engineering Consultant has sent a letter to the Osoyoos Indian Band outlining the work we need to do on the canal system and using some of their land as a staging area for materials and pipe.
- We are soliciting contractors to possibly start as early as March 7th if the rock scalers can get in before… weather may play a factor. Otherwise the following week but that could be pushing the construction times and getting the canal up and running in time for early April.
- Contacting Ministry of the Environment because of work around Gallagher Lake and possibly more material going into the lake.
- Staff need to contact the campground and possibly send a letter to residents in that area before works starts… more rocks will be falling from scalers.
