Police are investigating after suspects dropped a stolen ATM on the side of the highway north of Kelowna.
Sunday at 4:01 am, RCMP responded to a report of a break-in and theft from a gas station located in the 3600 block of Highway 97 North.
Officers have determined that at least two masked men, associated to an older van, forced the front glass doors of the business from their hinges before fleeing with the Automatic Teller Machine taken from inside.
The two suspects didn’t get far with the stolen bank machine, as members located and recovered the machine on the highway. It appears as though the ATM had fallen out of the van approximately 50 feet west of the gas station. The vehicle was described as a two tone dark coloured with silver older van. Although there was significant damage to the business, nothing else appeared to be taken.
