Today around 4pm a call came in for a truck on fire in the northbound lane Hwy 97 north of Penticton (near gunrange). The truck was just smoldering on the edge of the roadway and neither Summerland or Penticton fire departments responded because it was out of *their area.
ARGO road maintenance was called with flaggers to watch over the scene. Then around 7:12pm A call was made for a vehicle fire in the same area it was the same truck and the blaze was starting to take off.
Penticton Indian Band Volunteer Fire Dept. responded and extinguished the truck fire, ARGO shutdown the northbound lanes for about 20 minutes until the fire was fully out. This is a major 4 lane highway.
