Shortly after 8:00 P.M. Monday February 8, 2016 Penticton Search and Rescue were alerted by RCMP that a snowmobilier who had gone out for a short ride in the Allendale Lake Recreation Area in the afternoon and had not returned.

PENSAR alerted neighboring SAR team from Oliver Osoyoos and a total of twenty-six SAR volunteers responded to Allendale Lake by 10:30 P.M. which is approximately 24 km east of Okanagan Falls. Wihin half an hour of setting up a search base a team of 5 rescue sleds located the stranded snowmoibilier approximately 1 km from the lake around 10:50 P.M.

SAR Manager Richard Terry advised that the 40 yr old male was found to be in good condition considering being out in the cold for over 7 hours. “We were happy the individual decided to stay with his machine and not wander off. Although conditions were cold it was perfect conditions for this type of rescue operation to take place”.
