Two cheques presented this morning at a school assembly at Oliver Elementary. One proceeds from the annual Garlic Festival and the other a corporate sponsorship for the healthy food supplied to the K-7 students.

HESTER CREEK HELPING FINANCE LOCAL SCHOOL PROGRAM

Oliver Elementary School Gets Support for their meal program.

Hester Creek Estate Winery has made another charitable contribution to local students at Oliver Elementary School. The annual donation of $11,000 is to support their Farm to School Salad Bar lunch program. This program offers nutritious options for students that may not otherwise have the opportunity. Representatives from the winery joined the school, to present the donation to the students, teachers and local parents.

This donation comes as a repeat from last years’ donation of the same amount. So far the five year relationship with Oliver Elementary and Hester Creek has seen over $50,000 donated to the school.

“This was an easy decision to make for Hester Creek, we agreed on assisting a local organization that featured sustainable food practices while nourishing the youth of today,” says President, Mark Sheridan.

This program is essential to the health and well-being of the whole student body, feeding the school lunch twice a week for majority of the year.
