The annual shoe game between SOSS (Oliver ) and Pen Hi will be played February 4th at 6:30 at SOSS. This is the 50th Anniversary of both teams playing for the shoe. The actual challenge game started in 1963, and in 1965 Wayne Radies donated his shoe and so the legend began. Over the years Pen Hi Dominated forging a 26-11 record, however SOSS has won 10 of the last 11 years closing the gap to 27-21. The game for some reason was not played in 1989 but the tradition has continued. A lot of great players from Gordie Herbert, Geoff McKay representing Pen Hi and the likes of Laslo Babbits, Spencer Mckay and current SOSS coaches Jas Gill, Greet Gill and Sunny Buttar competing for SOSS. This is game which has no bearing on league standing has always been played with great sportsmanship and competition. A few years back both coaches agreed to allow Josh Tester a SOSS superfan with learning disabilities to enter the game and become a part of the traditon. It was a very emotional and inspirational night and one that Josh and the players that were involved cherish. So you if you have time off on February 4th at 6:30 come to SOSS and catch a great game of basektball.
