Oliver File 2016-277 refers.
On January 25, 2016 at 8:04PM , Oliver RCMP received a report of a single vehicle motor vehicle collision on Highway 97, just north of Park Rill Rd., near Oliver, BC. Officers arrived on scene to find a black 2002 Honda CRV on its roof. EHS and Fire crews were already on scene providing service to the 29 year old male driver and sole occupant of the vehicle. The Penticton male was subsequently transported to South Okanagan Hospital by EHS, where he was examined, treated for non-life-threatening injuries, and later released. Examination of the scene suggested that the vehicle had been travelling northbound on Highway 97, came around a slight bend in the road and started going off road right. The vehicle travelled along the shoulder for a bit, coming close to a utility pole where the driver appears to have over-corrected, sending the vehicle across the highway, into the oncoming lane of traffic. The vehicle then went off road left, hitting a dirt embankment and a utility pole where it started to roll. Vehicle debris and contents from inside the vehicle were spread out from the point of contact with the pole to where it came to rest, approximately 300-500 feet away. The vehicle is believed to have been a total write-off. Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor. Cause of the collision is still under investigation.
