Pen Hi vs SOSS Hornets
Tonight’s Shoe game did not go ahead – glitch? – Will be rescheduled if possible during the busy game schedules of two different leagues A and AA
The game was first started in 1963 when then SOSS coach Jerry Glassford and Pen Hi coach Larry Grant decided to play a non-league game.
Coach Glassford decided they should play for his old sneaker. Two years Wayne Radies donated his size 14 sneaker which was bronzed and now sits atop the coveted trophy. So for the past 48 years many Pen Hi and SOSS greats have put it on the line to win the shoe from the likes of National team players Gord Herbert, Geoff Mckay from Pen Hi to Spencer McKay and Lazlo Babits (who was a world class javelin thrower for Canada) of SOSS.
Penticton holds the record for wins in all of the years but the last few years – have been wins for the Hornet.
