Osoyoos will bear brunt of school budget battle

Osoyoos was handed the short end of the stick Wednesday as school district senior staff recommended closing either the town’s high school or its elementary school.

No other school closure options were suggested in the board’s battle against its growing deficit. The board voted to consider only those two options.

One of the schools could close as early as this September.

June Harrington, the school trustee for Osoyoos, said: “Closing either school will be devastating to the community.”
