West Kelowna – Investigators look to the public for help in determining the final moments of a man found deceased late last Wednesday morning and who is now being identified.
On January 6, 2016, at 11:23 am, the West Kelowna RCMP was called to the area of Bear Creek Road, approximately 2 kilometres past Parkinson Road, for a report of a body found inside a vehicle. The West Kelowna RCMP, along with Kelowna RCMP Forensic Ident Services examined the scene.
The West Kelowna RCMP General Investigative Section (GIS) had assumed conduct of the investigation and police are now confirming this death as a homicide.
The man found deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Tura Stephen MCCARTY of Summerland.
“The RCMP strongly believes that this was not a random attack, and recognizes how crimes of this nature are disturbing to the members of the community,” said Superintendent Nick Romanchuk, Officer in Charge (OIC) of the Kelowna Regional Detachment. “I would like to assure the public that all the resources necessary for an investigation of this magnitude are in place and that every effort is being made to identify and apprehend the suspect as quickly as possible.”
