At the age of 17, Paige Riley, a very focus young lady, has participated in the Fall Art Show, published photos on ODN and curated a Children’s Art Show. What’s next – her first one woman art show.
Up for viewing is Pagie’s interpretation of her adventures to the Azores Islands off the coast of Portugal, the place of her ancestors. Paige said this of her journey “I could not stop taking pictures. I wanted to try and capture the beauty that surrounded me as I fell in love with the area. It wasn’t just the scenery and the ocean. It was the people I met and the culture I was immersed in. The experience inspired me to re-create some of what I saw. This winter, I painted.”
Paige’s diverse portfoilio reminds her of the stories that was the inspiration for her work and the memories of laughter creating them. When asked of her future Paige says “I know my future will always involve art. Maybe I will teach art to children, photograph couples or the first special moments in a baby’s life. If I’m extremely lucky, I will have a gallery, with my art works on display. Only determination, a lot of hard work and some luck will help mould what I will become.”
Paige invites you to join her at the Artist Reception, South Okanagan Immigrant & Community Services, 6239 Main Street, Oliver, Jan. 11, 5-7 pm. Her work will be on display and for sale. Please take some time to stop by and enjoy a little bit of the beauty from the Azores in watercoulors by Paige Riley.
