George Fraser is 80
At that age you can expect that your Dad is NOT still around little alone your grandfather.
So this week George went to the mail box and an official arm of the government seemed to be telling him – your gramps and your dad must be still alive.
How is this possible?
If something is going to get screwed up – unlikely it is business – it just might be the government you pay for.
The BC Assessment Authority sent out notices of assessments to each land owner in BC this week.
Let’s stop for a second and tell you a story about Osoyoos history.
George Fraser is old enough that he remembers the thirties. His parents Doug and Dorothy were very well known and his grandfather – George Fraser was a bit of a land baron getting syndicates together to buy land in very early times when Osoyoos had 17 registered citizens.
Both the senior George and his son Doug have been dead for some time – decades.
So why would the BC Assessment Authority be sending notices to these two names for land owned by others ???
A couple of questions: did someone find an old data base? The George I met with today says he gets his assessment each year on schedule – but never like this.
???
Now back to those questions. I guess George will have to phone the Penticton office of BC Assessment and try to find someone who will believe him.
Maybe he will have to drive to the nearest office and show them the various notices he received in the mail.
Maybe it’s a dream. Government doesn’t make mistakes like this? Yes?
