Penticton – BC Supreme Court Monday January 5th
On an application to alter a probation order
A young Oliver man convicted of building a pipe bomb that rattled a local neighbourhood in 2013 was granted access to pubs and liquor establishments after a successful application Monday.
Eric O. Daoust, born 1990, pleaded guilty to mischief over $5,000 and was sentenced to 30 days in jail and two years probation ending in August of this year.
Daoust and his brother, Stephan W. Daoust, born 1994, pled guilty to their involvement in bombing a car in the alley off Earle Crescent, sending shrapnel through the wall of a nearby garage.
The order is relaxed to allow him to socialize at bars when he moves to Montreal for further schooling.
Dauost’s lawyer successfully argued that her client has not been charged with any breaches of probation since it began in 2014, or is there any indication alcohol has been problem for him.
