The BC Utilities Commission is allowing a rate increase for 2016 to go ahead despite some appeals.
Couple of interesting facts used in the decision of December 14th. (G-202-15)
The cost of power company assets damaged in the Rock Creek fire $1.728 million, the Testalinda fire $1.064 million and the Wilson Mtn. fire $0.251 million.
The commission ruled that these cost can be factored into the reasons for a rate increase… BUT not the Wilson Mtn. fire.
No explanation for that part of the decision.
Also the BCUC noted that any losses due to consumers wanting a radio off meter not be part of any rational for recovery of such costs. The commission said FortisBC can report back later on any financial damage once is has the hard facts.
