Prolific Offender Lasts 12 minutes (Penticton RCMP File # 2015-18839)

The Penticton RCMP are glad that a prolific offender is back in custody, and that their pro-active police work was a success.  On Christmas Eve, a 39 year old Penticton resident, was found asleep behind the wheel of a stolen vehicle parked at a business near the Channel Parkway and Fairview Rd.

The male was held in Police custody since that time and appeared in Penticton Provincial Court Tuesday morning.  He was released and ordered to report to a probation supervisor.

The Penticton Drug Task Force and Crime Reduction Unit watched this male leave the probation office at 130 pm, and observed his actions for the next twelve minutes at which time he smashed a window on a vehicle belonging to Penticton Lock and Key and stole a cash box from inside.

“We pursued this male on foot through downtown alleys, over fences and through yards” advises Cpl. Scott VANEVERY of the Drug Task Force, “We called on all our units, both plain clothed and uniform, they surrounded the area giving him no out.”

The male was arrested on Martin Street close to Orchard Avenue.  He has been charged with one count of mischief under $5000 and one count of theft under $5000.  He will appear in Penticton Provincial Court again on Wednesday
