Man robs Oliver corner store, shoots woodsman up McKinney and nabbed by a SWAT team in Cawston
On July 23rd, 2015 at 10:35 a.m. in Cawston an RCMP officer involved in the active search for a suspect spotted a vehicle similar to the one stolen near Oliver. As the officer got closer he was able to confirm a man was alone in the vehicle. When Ronald Arthur Teneycke, 52 saw the officer he accelerated in an attempt to flee. Teneycke drove to Fairview-Cawston Road and into the rural mountain pass that leads to Oliver.
RCMP Air Services was involved in the search and followed Teneycke up Fairview-Cawston Road where he was intercepted by the RCMP Emergency Response team. The Federal and Serious Organized Crime Section were utilized in the search and successful apprehension of Teneycke.

Two large interface fires threaten homes near Oliver – provincial fire camp established
August 14, Friday afternoon
Sparks from a downed power line in a wind and lightning storm sparks Wilson Mt. Fire. Lightning starts fire up the slopesof Testalinda Creek and spread north and south. Homes in Oliver and north and west Osoyoos evacuated. Provincial fire camp full staffed to coordinate and fight fire that lasts beyond the opening of schools
