Highway 97/Okanagan Falls, BC
On December 17, 2015 at 4:10 pm there was a motor vehicle collision on Highway 97 approximately 1 km south of Okanagan Falls, BC. The collision involved a Chevrolet Tahoe and a Chevrolet Optra. The Tahoe was travelling south on Highway 97 when it collided with the northbound Optra. The two occupants in each vehicle were transported to Penticton Regional Hospital with non life threatening injuries.
Poor weather (heavy snow in areas) resulted in road conditions to be treacherous for a period of time. Alcohol was not a factor in this collision. Highway 97 was shut down with a detour in place to Oliver Ranch Road.
South Okanagan Traffic Services attended with BC Ambulance and the Okanagan Falls Fire Department.

Editor: Please use proper winter tires and drive to the conditions of the road. Further to this report. A bus using Oliver Ranch Rd slipped off the roadway to prevent it from entering Highway 97 near the Bird Sanctuary. The driver was facing slippery conditions and opted for the least dangerous situation. No injuries.
